I don't think there's any limit to what shaders you can use, as long as it doesn't require scripts.

MarioKart7z, what you are searching for is more like a particle effect combined to a different dissolve shader style, so even with the correct shader it wouldn't be enough to make it good. Overlays background color on top of original scene. Fades into original scene color. Slow because it uses two passes instead of one. Look in the "Examples" folder for prefabs and their materials. Leftmost is Opaque with the flat-lit approach, similar to using the old Projection Overlay Texture Unlit Tiled shader. There are no outlines or shadows, the whole model is lit the same way. Ramp is empty, outline width and tile speed is zero.
